Description

Canam Buildings services were selected for the supply of the Stinson Transport Centre’s steel structure. It is the Montreal Transit Corporation’s (STM) first entirely covered transport centre with a capacity of 300 vehicles and employing 800 workers. This Transit Centre aims for a Gold LEED Certification.

Canam Buildings supplied joists, joist girders, welded wide-flange (WWF) and steel deck. The roof was treated as a fifth facade. No mechanical equipment is visible and the customer insisted on the importance of vegetation-covered surfaces. A technical challenge for Canam Buildings due to the complex geometry of certain building components.

Area: 392,881 ft2 (36,500 m2), which is equivalent to seven football fields.
