Canam Buildings services were selected for the construction of an Econox building for the Quebec City Airport checkpoint located in Quebec.
A manufacturing challenge
As there were already foundations, the manufacturing of the building totalizing 3,160 ft.2 (293 m2) had to be custom-made in accordance with architectural plans. This building was to be paired with an existing annex on the same foundations, thus complicating its installation. Coordination between stakeholders has helped to understand the needs and to adapt the manufacturing accordingly.
The width of the Econox panels is 10 feet. They are pre-assembled at the plant. The length of a building is therefore calculated by 10 feet length. In this case, a modification had to be made to adjust the length of the building to the existing foundations (91 ft.-8¾ in.).
A metal cladding was applied to both sides of the wall and roof panels, and no insulation was requested. The choice of this type of building was perfect because it will be relocated later, after an eight-year usage.
