Canam’s services were selected for the steel structure supply of the Pierre-Lassonde pavilion being part of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. This project aims to obtain a Silver LEED Certification.

The MNBAQ almost doubled the size of its premises with this construction which includes six exhibition rooms, a reception area, an urban café, a state of the art amphitheater with fixed seating and a boutique of products coming from Quebec artists and artisans.

The complexity of this project comes from the overhanging structure to the left of the building that had to be stabilized during construction. A horizontal bracing system was developed by the project’s design engineers and the challenge was to find a way to integrate this system to the different elements of the structure, more especially with Canam joists and joist girders.

For this project, Canam provided joists, joist girders and steel deck.

Area: 77,385 ft² (7,189 m²).
