Canam’s services were selected for the steel structure supply and installation of the Hambro D500 composite floor system for the Nanaimo Memory Care residence.
This residence is specialized in care for elderly people with Alzheimer or other forms of dementia. The operation of this facility is completely independent from other institutions and totally dedicated to providing mental health services. The building has 79 rooms on four floors where 83 people can be treated.
Because of its location on Vancouver Island where the Nanaimo municipality is located, the steel components had to be transported by land over 4,921 km, departing from the St. Gedeon, QC, manufacturing plant , and by ship for two and a half hours to arrive at the construction site.
For this project, Canam supplied the Hambro D500 composite floor system on three floors, D500 joists, steel deck, conventional steel structure and light steel load-bearing wall panels.
Size: 51,340 ft2 (4,770 m2).
