Canam’s services were selected for the supply and installation of the entire building envelope for the MAC Air Group’s aircraft hangar located in South Portland, Maine. This project was realized with the BuildMaster approach.

This 41,112 ft.2 (3,819 m2) hangar benefited of the Murox shop-fabricated load-bearing wall panels system. This panels have the doors and windows installed at the plant, facilitating the erection on site. Joists, joist girders, structural steel and steel deck were also required for the construction of this double hangar with an attached office building.

An economic proposition

Canam recommended a change in joists orientation to avoid using two 120 ft. (36.6 m) open-web joist girders and replacing them by four 24 ft. (7.3 m) small open-web joist girders, resulting in a reduction in building height and construction costs.

Thanks to the BuildMaster approach, the whole process from design to delivery, was facilitated in respect with the schedule and safety at the site.
