Construction of MacTaggart Place Retirement Residence located in Edmonton, Alberta. This four-storey building includes 180 supportive living, assisted living and memory care housing units. There is also a wellness center, which includes a spa, fitness room and aquatic center.
The final goal for any building construction is to waterproof the building as fast as possible.
Since this building consisted of three four-storey wings, and to collaborate with the General Contractor to reduce the overall construction schedule, each wing was erected in a way that the first wing would get to the roof before the second and third wings. This freed up the erection team to focus on the adjacent wings while the General Contractor completed the installation of the last cores in the wing.
This enabled the overlap of the structure erection and optimized the erection schedule and the overall construction schedule as well, as it freed up one wing 100% for other trades while other wings were still in the erection phase.
