Description

Canam’s services were selected for the steel structure supply and engineering drawings for this outstanding project of the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre’s expansion.

Built over land and water, with floor-to-ceiling glass throughout that treats guests to phenomenal harbor and mountain views, the new West Building is a masterpiece of design, inspiration and sustainability.

The commitment to green technology can be found in every corner: green roof, seawater heating and cooling, on-site water treatment and even fish habitat built into the foundation.

This expansion project is largely funded by the federal and B.C. governments.

Canam provided joists and steel deck.

Area: after this expansion, the building has tripled its floor area to 474,000 ft2 (44,036 m2).
