Canam’s services were selected for the steel structure supply for the ÉTS Students’ House. This project aims to obtain a Silver LEED CS Certification.

This five-story building, built in compliance with sustainable development principles, includes stores, Student Services, study spaces, classrooms and laboratories. A green space promoting exchanges between students and the locals, an outdoor skating rink during the cold winter weather and a pedestrian tunnel complete the package.

Also unusual, its architecture, inspired of an ice cube, is a tribute to the old “Ice House” building that was once built on this site with the purpose of storing ice blocks taken from the St. Lawrence River.

For this project, Canam supplied joists, joist girders and steel deck. Area: 130,000 ft2 (12,077 m2).
